Coming Back Home

…a mountain vacation residence conceived as a place of return, where retreat feels instinctive, familiar, and grounded in its surroundings.

Rather than positioning the home as an escape from everyday life, the design reframes it as an extension of it: calm, warm, and deeply connected to place.

The interior concept is rooted in respect for the existing architecture and the natural context of the site. Original structural elements are preserved and celebrated, allowing materials such as exposed brick, timber beams, and solid wood surfaces to anchor the spaces with authenticity and character. These elements inform a restrained material palette, where natural textures and muted tones echo the surrounding forest and mountain landscape.

Across the home, spaces are designed to support both gathering and retreat. The open living, dining, and kitchen areas encourage shared moments, centered around warmth—both literal and emotional—through tactile materials, soft furnishings, and the presence of the fireplace. Bedrooms offer quieter, more intimate environments, where layered textiles, warm wood accents, and nature-inspired graphics reinforce a sense of rest and comfort.

Natural light, thoughtful storage, and practical layouts ensure the home functions effortlessly for extended stays, while handcrafted details and subtle contrasts bring depth and personality. The result is an interior that feels lived-in rather than styled—timeless, adaptable, and quietly expressive.

This house is ultimately about belonging. A space shaped by its landscape, designed for human experience, and defined by the simple comfort of returning to a place that feels unmistakably like home.
